How Children Learn: Reading John Holt

Once,  in an attempt to  allow children to give space to children’s questions, I told to ask whatever questions they have in mind. I was bombarded with  a number of  questions and one that stands out in my mind: If humans came from monkeys, why haven’t all monkeys changed to humans? A simple question on evolution, it may seem, but it is the manifestation of the children’s natural willingness to learn. It Rains...

In unending spree glistening drops fall from black clouds like sparkling pearls drops of rain hang  like silvery strings lighting the air in a watery glow Soil's dirt exudes a fragrance reminding the rain of its long last love rain's tender embrace stirs soil into a trance Oblivious of dirt it lies under the watery canopy   In my heart it rains drops of pain piercing the flesh  in sullen dampness Worries flood in flurry leaving the spirit dry seeking respite  I run desperate I scurry  into my soul's recesses dropping the mind leaving the I behind
